Scouting in North Hampshire from back in the day . . . . . . .
The first Troops in the north of Hampshire were formed around 1910. Local Districts weren’t in evidence and individual villages and towns started up their own Troop[s]. They refered to “Scouting for Boys” to determine what they should do and how they should do it. It wasn’t until 1912 that the local Groups began to coalesce into formal areas of influence.
Eventually Odiham Scout District was formed and it covered a very large area. The number of Groups peaked in 19XX but of course it became to big to run within a single district and was split in 19XX into Odiham District and Bramshill District. Bramshill District retained all the original groups from 1 though 9 with the exception of the 2nd (Odiham Town) which stayed as an Odiham District Group.
